school was cool today. because it's friendship day and the school smelled of chocolates and you can see almost everyone with flowers. it was quite a sight too, the flowers, the many bags people were carrying, the tons of people checking at the letter slots for gifts from their angels/mortals and of course the smiles.
and it feels good to not just take but also give. i tried to give everyone but there were simply too many people, so, i'm sorry if i left you out, but you can be sure i'm still a friend! i think this vday thing is really meaningful because it allows everyone to be nice to one another and give thanks to those who made life so much better for you. at least for me, that was my intention of gifts on this day. if not for all these wonderful people, life would have been unbearable.
spa didnt turn out as well as how friendship day went. i couldnt get my crystals and we dont know what went wrong too. yes, we meaning including ms rita wong. so chem prac got me so sticky and tired and irritated and turned me off for roadrun which was like 40 mins after.
and roadrun.. i dont know what to say. 21st last year, 24th this year. and only top 20 are recognised winners with trophies. i was a little disappointed because i felt i really pushed my limit and ran my lungs out but i wasnt able to push it earlier and push it more. because it's only 4 more positions thats why it stinged so badly. i hate to lose and especially when i think i've put in effort. last year i lost like 50m, this year, i lost by quite a bit to the 20th.
i dont know what went wrong too, they tell me i started too slow, which is quite true because the first round on the track, i didnt stride well. couldnt get used to the 'bounce' of the track still, i started catching up the minute i got onto the road, but i guess it's too late alr. when it's 5.1km, it's not just about your body anymore, it was seriously so draining that i felt like stopping for more than 10 times. but i held on, because i saw my badminton and og guys near and it'll be so embarassing to stop. moreover, i'm 'supposed' to be in front since i got 21st last year -.- yeah anw, another reason was the hating to lose to people part. i saw so many people that i didnt want to lose to and that drove me for quite a bit.
but then again, i'm glad that i didnt succumb and stop despite all the inner thoughts in me, like wanting to stop near the marshal saying i'm not feeling well, or just fall down and find an excuse to not be able to run. positive talk did help too and so did swearing. (i sweared in my mind k) thanks for all the encouragement along the way by friends and other tjcian. i dont know if they helped but i appreciate it a lot.
at the start of the run, it was for leisure
once we went out of school, it was to not get stuck in the narrow path
after the path, it was to run at my own pace
at the last long stretch, i wanted to overtake people, run it for myself
at the gate, i wanted to win, for myself, the team and beta
u can imagine my disappointment when i saw the position tag, after being thru so much, i still didnt manage to make it.
ultimately, excuses aside, i guess i'm just not good enough.
i'm tired and, nice run everyone. especially to leon OH who was first with record breaking time of 19 plus mins. and good job to all who managed to not stop and those who completed. gamma won the guys overall in the end, but well somethings arent within our control, things like having good runners in our house. so, i hope no one's too affected by the results, and the cheering results too! because i think we did great and we should have won too. -through and through beta knight, since day one
and i'm proud of it.
